چکیده

Technetium-99m (Tc) has been the radionuclide of choice for nuclear medicine procedures and experimental research. Because of its optimal nuclear properties, Tc is suitable for high efficiency detection with the advantage of reduced radiological waste. Crotalus venom (CV) has been shown to reduce tumors in clinical studies and tissue distribution studies are very important for clinical use. The goal of this work was to obtain CV labeled with Tc which preserves its biological activity. After labeling, biological activity was assessed by hemolytic activity evaluation. Labeled and crude venom caused indirect hemolysis provided that the incubation medium contained an exogenous source of lecithin. High yield radiolabeled-CV was obtained and biological activity was preserved. The results suggest that Tc-CV can be a useful tool for biodistribution studies.

Radiolabeling the Peptides extracted from Scorpion venom (ICD-85) with 99mTc as treatment and imaging agent for cancer

Introduction: Venoms are a mixture of proteins and peptides which can be used for fighting cancers. They can affect the exposed fibers and the muscles directly or through motor nerves, causing neuromuscular intoxication. ICD-85 is a combination of three poly-peptides derived from the venoms of an Iranian brown snake and a yellow scorpion. Materials and Methods...

Preparation and biodistribution study of a 99mTc-labeled toxic fraction of Iranian mesobuthus eupeus scorpion venom

Introduction: Iranian scorpion species are classified in Buthidae and Scorpionidae with 16 genera and 25 species. In Iran, similar to other parts of the world, there are a few known species of scorpions responsible for severe envenoming. Mesobuthus eupeus is the most common species in Iran. Its venom contains several toxin fractions which can affect the ion...

Preparation and biodistribution study of 67Ga-gallium calcitonin

Introduction: In order to develop a radiolabeled calcitonin (CT) derivative for receptor imaging studies, CT was successively labeled with 67Ga-gallium chloride. Methods: The best results of the conjugation were obtained by the addition of 0.5 ml of a CT nasal pharmaceutical solution (1100 IU) to a glass tube pre-coated with DTPA-dianhydride (0.01 mg) at 25°C with continuous mild st...

Preparation and quality control of radiolabeled streptokinase for Thrombosis imaging

Background: In order to diagnose the site of thrombi, radiolabeled streptokinase can be prepared. The radiolabeled compound can be used in imaging of thrombi in many cardiovascular diseases. Materials and Methods: Streptokinase was successively labeled with [67Ga]-gallium chloride using cyclic DTPA-dianhydride. The conjugation with DTPA was optimized for concentration, time and temperature foll...
